Bergerac - Franchemont - Dordogne Holiday - What People have said

“Now that we are back in not very sunny England, we just wanted to drop a line to you both to say how much we enjoyed ourselves at Franchemont. Thank you for your hospitality – we really appreciated such an open and friendly welcome…”

“Thanks again for the wonderful holiday, it's one we will never forget.”

“Just wanted to thank you so much for a really wonderful holiday, it just couldn't have been better, you welcomed us into your lovely home and made us feel so comfortable. As I was the one who organised it I was particularly pleased that it all went so well!”

Bergerac - Franchemont - Dordogne Holiday

Location: We’re located on the north bank of the river Dordogne about 2km walk on a path along the river from the centre of Bergerac. We’re actually the last house in Bergerac! The house is set in 2½ acres and we’ve got fields to both sides of the house. A large house, originally built by the English as an armoury sometime in the 13th/14th century.

Accommodation: Sleeping up to 12 in five double bedrooms, 4 of which are en-suite and with a separate shower room/wc and additional  w.c. Holiday by the week or weekend/midweek breaks. Also B&B / Chambre d’hôtes.

Example holiday / wine tour break:

Two couples staying for 3 nights mid-week or weekend.

  • En-suite rooms with lounge/dining & fully equipped Kitchen
  • Airport (Bergerac) pick-up and drop off.
  • Four escorted visits to local vineyards – so you can enjoy the wine. Two drop offs and pickups at local restaurants – so you can enjoy the food and wine.
  • House to yourselves (except for your hosts!) i.e. we wouldn’t take bookings for others at the same time.
  • Breakfast included.

Total Cost £480.

There are over 100 vineyards on the Bergarac wine-route that are open to the public and there are 12 Bergerac Appellations: Bergerac; Bergerac Rosé; Bergerac Sec (dry); Côtes-de-Bergerac ; Côtes-de-Bergerac Blanc; Côtes de Montravel; Montravel (red and white); Haut-Montravel; Saussignac; Monbazillac; Pécharmant & Rosette.

Things to do / facilities:

  • Beautiful heated swimming pool, with beach and waterfall – good for children. Salt water based so no stinging eyes! The pool also has an alarm making it safe for children. There’s also a separate shower room in the main house close to the pool.
  • Trampoline / climbing frame; children’s slide, swing etc…
  • Wireless broadband internet access.
  • Sky TV, on a big screen in the main house and English TV in the Guest House.
  • Bicycles – several to borrow including a trailer bike; child seat and various helmets.
  • Pool / Billiard table
  • Very good fishing: Salmon, trout, sturgeon and cat fish all caught before.
  • Canoeing – the river is wide but quite calm and safe in the summer, and we have life jackets too.
  • Some great walks and bike rides.
  • Pool man, gardener and odd job man to help make your stay as relaxing and trouble free as possible.
  • Car Hire – a local firm are happy to drop off and pick up a car at the house.
